Lucky me!

A while ago, more than a month to be honest (Sorry it took so long to blog this, Petra) I won the give-away at Woonschrift.

A few days later this sweet present found its way to my door:

Inside the pretty purple paper where 3 cute DIY packages:

BILD2281
A embroidery pattern with all the utensils to make this little owl.

BILD2282
A spool knitting pack, with yarn and some wire to make words like this:

BILD2283
And last but not least: all the felt pompons to make a really colourful bunting!

Thanks for the fantastic prezzies, Petra!

Redemption…

I know it’s been awfully quiet here for weeks on end now… And not because I have nothing to write about or no creative ideas, I just don’t seem to get anything done.

My to-do-list or want-to-do-list are becoming ridiculously long or should I say endless! Endless to the point I’m doing multiple projects at once instead of finishing them one by one.

Some projects I need to do or finish don’t even get going, because I want them to turn out perfect! I know perfectionism kills creativity and the challenge is to allow yourself to make mistakes. My biggest challenge is turning of my need for perfection in creations, so not easy!!

So I end up browsing the net, picking up more ideas for my to-do-list on Pinterest(vicious circle anyone?), procrastinating current projects, telling myself I’ll write a new blog post tomorrow and so on… Result? Frustration off course!

Therefore I see this post as my first step to redemption and I’ll try to post more frequent and just do something creative! Maybe I should just look at these quotes more often?

How do you all keep this blogger’s block or creative block at bay? Any tips??

Hobbymarket–Hobbysalon

Last week me and my BFF went to Mechelen, there was this big market with all things creative. If you can imagine something, they sold everything to make it! So yes, we did buy stuff, a lot of stuff to be exact :-) But they had really gorgeous fabrics, I could say in my defence!
The loot:

Pretty fabrics:

The 4 on the right are Michael Miller fabrics, love them! The babushka is a design from Design-by-me, it’s a doll/pillow to make.
BILD2270
The pink gingham roll and the other are oilcloth, maybe a toiletry bag to be.

I’m already saving up for the next edition :-)

The prettiest prezzie I ever got!

In my last blog post I promised to show you the awesome gift my BFF made me, so…
It all began with a big box introduced to me with the following text:

Inside there where lots of presents, all with fun and mysterious words on them. What I found? The new issue of Mollie Makes, Joel Dewberry’s book Sewn Spaces, movie tickets, masking tape, mod podge,… Yes, she spoiled me :-)
And of course the prettiest prezzie ever! She mod podged my name in the most awesome way!! Look:

Isn’t it pretty? They got a special place in my living room, so I can admire them every day!

Of course there was cake too :-) So even though I’m another year older, it was a fantastic birthday!

Crafty birthday!!

My BFF and I have our birthdays with a week in between, so the summer is all about parties and prezzies! We exactly know what to get for each other :-) To maximize the fun of giving I made an array of different presents, some books she liked, masking tape, crafty paper,… And some handmade, especially for her, one of a kind items.
I put the rolls of masking tape in a glass jar that I decorated with a doily and butterfly paper (she loooooves butterflies):

BILD2203
The masking tape was hidden among lots of yarn ends, so she wouldn’t spot the actual prezzie on sight!

BILD2206
Then I began the daunting task to mod podge her a book with nice fabrics. It took me ages, glue and wait to dry and glue and wait and glue and… you get the picture :-) but the end result was worth it I think! At least the birthday girl liked it ;-)

BILD2212
Yes, butterflies again :-)

and included a butterfly and starry bookmark.

Next time I’ll show you the pretty, homemade prezzie she gave me! It’s gorgeous!!

Washing and drying…

Last weeks have been really busy workwise, so an occasional row of crochet has been the most creative part of my life :-)
In between my shifts I have been preparing part of my next big non-crochet project! Oh, wait, some crochet may sneak into the final result, but mostly it’s about fabrics and stuffing and glue and paint and stuff… Curious yet? ;-)

This week I washed some fabrics from the thrift store and my grandmother to be used in ‘the project’. A beautiful sight on the clothesline!

Now for the ironing part, sigh, it’s the part I least enjoy… Well, no time like the present, I guess?

Enjoy your weekend!

WIP: Lacy shawl n°1

Yes, I’m back online! Wow, did I miss you guys! I will be taking a break from the photo a day project for the moment, maybe I’ll do it again in a few months. Did you like it by the way? For now on my blog I’m going to focus more on the crafty things in my life, maybe the inspiration and creativity will be flowing more freely :-)
At the moment I’m working on 2 hooky and 1 knitty project at once. Of course blankie the second is still on the agenda, though she’s on a vacation right now :-)
026
Hooky project n°2 is a lacy shawl for my mum. She bought the yarn, a gorgeous brown, really thin, but fluffy kind. Drops Kid Silk (colour 15).
BILD2099
The pattern is Eva’s shawl, found online here. It’s a really easy pattern, after the first five rows, you just keep repeating row 3,4 and 5. It gives a really nice effect!
BILD2105BILD2106BILD2115
After a while it’ll look something like this: including the paperclips used as stitch markers ;-)
BILD2107
Lucky these days it doesn’t get dark until late, because with the colour and the thickness of the yarn, daylight is needed to find the right holes to put the crochet hook trough! Hopefully mom will like the finished shawl!
I’ll tell you more about the knitty project one of the days!
Love, Zjizjipke!
